Watercolor/Pastel  Landscapes

For many years my favorite activity was going out into nature and painting watercolors pleine aire. Some thirty years later, these old works were dredged out of the bottom of my drawer and given a fresh look. Watercolor is transparent and cannot be worked over without looking muddy. Now, with new understandings of color and composition, I have seen what was needed all along and made brief and succinct changes using soft pastel which easily masks the water color.
